Fun title, right? I thought today I’d take time to write a bit more about The Triad of Caosdif, while awaiting you to tell me what you would like help with learning in writing. (I want to help you out! Please, tell me in the comments what you want me to post about next! 😃)

 

Finding Old Friends

I love reading through the first draft, because I forgot things as I wrote through it the first time, and I get to remember them as I go! This can be:

• random snarky sentences (or hilarious ones)
• facts about the characters (like how one snores)
• or their weapon preference (one was supposed to get a double-edged ax)

When I happen upon those I tend to laugh or talk to myself. (“Oh yeah, he was supposed to get a double-edged ax!”)

 

Evil Laughing

Have I ever mentioned how often I evil laugh out loud?

Not very often. I only do it when I get excited. Things that excite me are parts of books, movies, or ideas in my own head.

I love parts in my story where I’m reading through the scene before rewriting it, and I know what happens next, and then I randomly let out a perfectly malicious evil laugh. 😆 There’s just something super satisfying about it, ya know?

 

I Laugh in the Face of Mistakes

Okay, not all the time. But sometimes, they’re really dumb. 😂

Like once, when there happened to be some man-eating-piranhas in the story, and I suddenly wondered… how are the piranhas still alive if their source of energy is man?? So I just made the character wonder about it in the story and left it at that.

 

Sweet Success

I love the feeling of having solved a plot hole or finding a better reason for awesome scenes to happen. I love seeing the story grow and change, for the better. I honestly think my favorite part of writing a story is the initial rewrite. (After the first rewrite, it’s all grammar and stuff; I don’t like that. 😂)

 

Accidental Scrolling??

I am rewriting it by keeping the original document open, and a new one beside it. I can easily rewrite it that way, with all the space needed to add in new words, or entire scenes. (Or take out) But sometimes, I’ll accidentally flick up or down on the original, and I lose my spot.

Oopsie.

 

Suddenly In a Tuxedo

So, I read through the scenes before I rewrite them, to get an idea of how a reader would feel reading it, and what I need to change. (It’s been so long, that this works)

Sometimes, I get really into it, but then it suddenly… breaks into formal writing?? Like, I’m talking about the character scrambling onto their horse at this intense moment, and then suddenly this happened:

 

He put his foot in the stirrup, and mounted as fast as he could at the given time.

 

I stared at that for a solid five seconds before bursting into laughter at myself. It totally broke up the entire mood of the scene within four words. Seriously. 😂
