Get to Know Me Writer’s Tag

As it is Camp NaNoWriMo, I’ve decided to just do some tags this month instead of my usual posting so that I can focus my free time more on my writing. And here’s an old one, back from August 27, 2018.

I’m just so good at responding to tags. 😂

Thank you, Liz, for tagging me!

Get to Know me Tag

Rules:

  • link back to the amazing person who created the tag : Savannah!
  • thank the sweet person who tagged you : Thanks again, Liz!
  • share the tag graphic below (I did so above)
  • lastly, tag 11 bloggers (that’s a lot of bloggers 😳)

Questions

Appearances (for all you stalkers……)

Name: Julia Herkel.

Nicknames: I don’t really have any nicknames, but some of my friends back in grade 8 used to call me Jules, I believe.

Birthday: August 18.

Hair Color and Length: Mine is a super dark brown/black (I have been told you can’t have actual black hair unless it’s dyed, but mine is a pretty dark color) and at the time of writing this, sort of around my shoulders. I just got it cut recently. It’s very thick and poofy.

Eye color: Hazel. Fun fact: they used to be blue when I was younger, but then they changed to hazel. But wouldn’t blue with super-dark-hair-that’s-not-black be cool? 😜

Braces/Piercing/Tattoos: I’m probably going to get braces soon, and have my ears pierced.

Righty or Lefty: I’m right handed 🙂

Ethnicity: I’m Canadian and American.

First………

Novel written: Oh gosh. My first novel… um… I wrote many stories actually but I’m not sure which ones are long enough to be considered a novel. I’m going to take a wild guess and say one I wrote in grade 5: … *goes downstairs to check title* Quest for the Magic Dust. It was horrible.  😂 Maybe next post I’ll tell you about that instead of doing a tag.

Novel completed: Same answer as above.

Award For Writing: I’ve never gotten an award for writing.

Publication: It’s… complicated. So back in January 2018, I decided to self-publish The Storm Inside, even though I barely knew anything about doing that. I sold like, 4 e-books (one of which was my dad) and left it. A few months later, I looked back, and was completely horrified. It was AWFUL.

I then decided to rewrite the entire story. It’s been a long time (practically a year now) (wait it has been a year; I started that last April Camp NaNoWriMo 😲) and I’m still working on fixing that thing.

It’s also extended into a trilogy.

😂

(if you want to check out what it’s about, you can see my WIPs page here!)

Conference: I’ve never been to one, but would love to someday.

Query/Pitch: Since this is novel related, none. If we were talking about to businesses/companies, then… yeah, in the past there were some. Before I realized I really needed to grow my blog more before pitching. (it would really help if you would share my blog! Thanks! #selfpromo)

Favorite……….

Novel (that you wrote): I’m not sure. I’ve never really thought about this. I’d say that it’s a tie really between my first draft of The Triad of Caosdif and my third-version-first-draft of The Storm InsideThe Triad of Caosdif is like, my baby. I’m still trying to really understand its greatness and where it’s supposed to go. The Storm Inside has come a long way as well, and I’ve just worked so long and hard on it, and the characters are so familiar to me. Well, like 2 of them. The rest of them I don’t write about much. (sorry guys, but you just aren’t important) (please don’t kill me)

Genre: I like fantasy and adventure stories.

Author: Probably James Riley.

Writing Music: I love to listen to music that has no words, though lots of songs have vocals in them.

Time to write: I usually write in the morning before school, but I like to write in the afternoon better. (I talk about your writing time here! 😉)

Writing snack/drink: Coffee, hands down.

Movie: I don’t think I have a favorite movie; I love lots of movies! 😆

Writing memory: Banging out the ending of The Triad of Caosdif. It was December 30, 2017, and I was determined to finish before the new year. I sat there for so long, but I made it through, and just finally stopped and stared at the huge number of words and pages I had at the very end. It’s magic when you finish a draft.

Childhood book: The Piggie and Gerald series by Mo Williams.

Currently……

Reading: The One Thing by Gary Keller.

Writing: The first draft of The Fire Inside. I’m trying to finish it this month.

Listening To: At the moment, silence. But once I’m done this post, I’m going to set up some music to listen to while writing. A playlist, on shuffle, so I have no idea what it’ll be.

Watching: I finished watching Guardians of the Galaxy on Saturday night, so that was the last thing I saw.

Learning: School. 😛

Future!

Want to be published: I want to try and do a mix of self-published books and traditionally published books, just to get a first hand experience of both at the least and see which one I like better.

Indie or traditional: …see above. 😂

Wildest Goal: Become a NYT bestselling author.

Nominations…

I honestly don’t want to find 11 people to nominate, especially because I’m trying to do a tag so that I won’t be spending all my free time on a blog post! 😆 So I’ll just yell out, like, 3 instead or something.

  1. Kate @ Once Upon an Ordinary
  2. Anna @ A Storynerd’s Life
  3. Mary @ Wild Writing Dreams

Perfect! Yes I know that one of those is my sister stop glaring at me.

Once April is over, my posts will go back to writing-related subjects. Make sure you’re subscribed for when that happens! 😃 You get a free course on how to defeat writer’s block and updates whenever I post!

How’s your Camp NaNoWriMo going?
