Picking Apart the WIP: Collab with The Amber Illusion

Hey there!

Surprised to see me today? πŸ˜‰ Well, I have a fun post planned!

Cassidy, a fellow blogger (who goes by the name The Amber Illusion) has so graciously agreed to do a collab with me! (Click HERE to check out her blog!) We each came up with 10 questions for our WIPs (for those of you who don’t know, that stands for Work IProgress). The ones I came up with are here on my blog, along with our answers to them. The Amber Illusion’s questions are on her blog (posted earlier today right here) along with our answers. All questions are different, so if you want to check out to other 10 questions from Part 1 of this collab, make sure to check out her blog! πŸ˜ƒ

All questions are big, and you can tell our answers apart by the initials in front of them. Mine is J and Cassidy’s are TAI.

1. Where did you first get the idea for it from?

J: I first got the idea from a Pinterest prompt, actually.

TAI: I was driving to youth group with my mom when I thought of the idea. It was a weird moment but I knew it would into a great story!

2. Did you plot it?

J: Only slightly. I ended up sending a friend the first 5 pages of the story, and she loved it so much, that we spent an hour excitedly coming up with ideas for it, which gave me the basic idea of what would happen throughout the book; I just had to fill in the blanks.

TAI: I did a bit of plotting at first, yes. Probably not enough though. I was very eager to start it.

3. Are you often inspired to write it?

J: In this phase of rewriting, yes, I am. πŸ˜ƒ

TAI: Most days yes. Sometimes it is hard to find inspiration to write and finish my book.

4. What is your MC’s personality like?

J: They are kind of headstrong, and can get mad when they don’t get something right the first time. She doesn’t mind having to watch and learn from others, though. Slightly sarcastic, but not as much as another character in the story.

TAI: Well, she first comes off as sweet, helpful and a food lover, but she’s quite mysterious at times.

5. How old are they?

J: Thirteen.

TAI: She is 22 years old.

6. Do you have a favorite character in your WIP?

J: Hahaha, yes! The character I mentioned in my answer to question 4, the really sarcastic one. 😜

TAI: Probably the MC’s boyfriend. He is such a sweetheart and I want to meet him in real life. πŸ˜†

7. What would you say your writing style is? (Funny, random, sarcastic, serious, etc.)

J: I would say that it’s more sarcastic than anything. πŸ˜‚

TAI: Probably along the humor side, although I do love some romance every once in a while.

8. What time period is it set in?

J: More middle-ages, but I’ve altered some aspects of it. (Like dishes and stuff) I’ve added my own made up facts to the world, and although in this rewrite I’ve left out corsets and skirt cages (which were invented yyyyyyeeeaaaaarrrrrssssss later) I’ve also let a few things slide and stay in. πŸ˜›

TAI: 2010. Except, it’s not on Earth. πŸ˜‰

9. What kind of genre is it?

J: Fantasy-adventure.

TAI: I think it would be considered a mystery/action/romance. I don’t really know for sure lol.

10. How long do you hope the book to be?

J: About 100,000 words. πŸ˜ƒ

TAI: As long as I can make it. I hope for it to be a long, interesting book with lots of cool twists.

Freebie: Poster

Just a quick notice: I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that on next Monday, I am taking down the poster freebie. (You can find it under the Freebie section in the menu) If you’ve already downloaded it, I would appreciate if you would tell me what you thought about it, and, if you know anyone you think might be interested in them if you could send a link to them! πŸ˜ƒ
