Things I’ve Learned from NaNoWriMo: Save

Welcome to the first post in my series of things I’ve learned from NaNoWriMo! This was the first time I’ve ever finished it, and I’ve learned several things along the way!

Today we will take a look at SAVING YOUR WORK.

Also: MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL READERS!!! ๐Ÿ˜„ *sends you books, fuzzy socks, your preferred beverage, and a few of your favorite things* (Do you see what I did there? ๐Ÿ˜œ ๐Ÿ˜‚)

3 Easy Way to Remember to Save Your Work | Isn't it annoying (or devastating) when you forget to save your writing? Here are 3 easy ways to remember to do it! #writing #tips #easy #save #work #writer #author #story #book #novel #writerproblems

Today’s Goal:

  • Learn 3 ways to remember to save your work by reading this post
  • Save some of your own writing

Save.

Always, always, always save.

It will save your work, your life, and your sanity, writers.

On Day 14, you may recall how I mentioned that I had to restart my computer, and all my work for the day was lost.

I was devastated.

Here are a few simple ways to never go through a traumatic experience like that.

Way 1: Take Breaks

Toward the end of NaNoWriMo (the last week), I started working in a way that forced me to take breaks at certain points in time. (which I will talk more of in a different post of this series) Every time I took a break, I would remember to save.

Way 2: Scene Changes

Whenever your scene changes or ends, that usually means you’ve gotten quite a bit done. Take a second, and save.

Way 3: When You Leave

If you must stand up and leave your work, save first.

Now it’s your turn!

The next time you’re writing, try to use one of these methods to save your work. Make sure to come back and tell me in the comments how it worked! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Have you ever forgotten to save your work?

Did this post help you?
